Clean Development Mechanism (CDM)

Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) is a carbon trading system, defined in article 12 of the Kyoto Protocol, with the objective to cut green house gas emissions. To achieve their emission-cutting obligations, developed countries invest in the installation of green technology in developing countries in return for carbon credits. In this system, developed nations can meet their emission reduction goals while stimulating sustainable development in developing nations.
